BALLET
We use both the Russian
Vaganova and Cecchetti methods of ballet. Students are placed into the
appropriate level, and they are promoted at their own pace. Students may
remain in a particular level for 2 or more years. Two classes per week
are encouraged for ballet students Level II and higher.
Students begin pre-pointe
in level III. Level IV requirements are two ballet technique classes and
one pointe class. Level V requirements are two pointe classes and two
ballet technique classes. Level VI requirements are two pointe classes
and three ballet technique classes.
Each
year students have an opportunity to audition for one or more ballet productions.
The cast is usually chosen from levels V and VI and occasionally IV depending
on what is required to produce the ballet.
LYRICAL
Lyrical ballet is
an offshoot of classical ballet. It is a free moving dance; but still
requires ballet training in order to execute it properly therefore all
lyrical students must be the same level in ballet as lyrical.
